It starts with the quality of the bean! "Specialty grade" is an industry standard established by the Specialty Coffee Association. Coffee beans must meet strict SCA requirements for uniformity and absence of defects to earn the "specialty" designation. Additionally, the coffee produced from these beans must earn a minimum "cupping score" of 80 on a scale of 1-100. Cupping scores are determined by experienced "tasters" prior to export. Only about 5% of the coffee consumed in America is specialty grade. Our Fabulous Bean coffees are made with only the highest quality Arabica specialty grade beans and expertly roasted to achieve rich and complex flavor profiles.
